Composer John Williams, known for some of cinema’s most iconic film scores, is reported to be knighted by the British Royal Family. William’s knighthood was the last confirmed knighthood by the recently deceased Queen Elizabeth II. The British Press reports that John Williams’ name was on the final list of honorary awards for foreign nationals.

With a career spanning five decades, John Williams has composed some for some of the most beloved franchises and created some of the most memorable film scores. He has composed for the Harry Potter, Jaws, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and The Indiana Jones franchise.

John Williams had recently announced that he is retiring from scoring for films and that the upcoming Indiana Jones will be his last project. He is known to frequently collaborate with auteur filmmaker Steven Spielberg, he has composed for popular Spielberg films like Schindler’s List, Lincoln, Poltergeist, E T, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
