True Detective: Night Country begins production in Iceland

The crime anthology series True Detective is back with a new instalment titled True Detective: Night Country. The filming for the series will reportedly take place over a period of nine months in Iceland. The snowy landscape of Iceland will double for Alaska in the series. With a budget of over $64.8 million, the series production is set to be the largest cultural foreign investment for Iceland.

The series was originally created by writer/director Nic Pizzolatto for HBO. The first season featured Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in the leads and was directed by No Time to Die fame Cary Joji Fukunaga.

Kali Reis and Jodi Foster are cast as the lead detectives in the fourth season of True Detective. The makers of the series are currently keeping details about the plot under tight wraps. HBO is yet to announce a premiere date for the series but it is expected to release sometime around the first half of 2023.
