Legendary Entertainment enters multi-year deal with Sony after cutting ties with Warner Bros

Legendary Entertainment, known for films like Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Straight Outta Compton, and 300, has entered a multi-year deal with Sony Pictures Entertainment after cutting ties with Warner Bros. The recently released Legendary Entertainment films Dune and Godzilla vs Kong were distributed by Warner Bros.

In accordance with the new agreement, Sony will distribute all the theatrical films made by Legendary Entertainment. However, sequels for films like Dune and Godzilla vs Kong, which were previously distributed by Warner Bros will continue to be distributed by the company. The sequel to Dune titled Dune: Part Two is currently scheduled to release on 2 November 2023 while the untitled Godzilla vs Kong sequel is slated to release on 15 March 2024.

Legendary had previously undergone a similar split with Warner Bros in 2014 before entering a five-year deal with Universal Pictures. Legendary and Warner Bros eventually came together in 2018. However, the new deal will not prevent Legendary from collaborating with the various available streaming platforms and with any new streaming services that might come up in the future.
