Actor Alec Baldwin who courted controversy and legal trouble after he accidentally shot dead the cinematographer of Rust, Halyna Hutchins, on the film sets, has sued people who were involved in handling and supplying of the gun to the film crew in New Mexico.

The actor’s lawsuit mentions negligence by armorer Hannah Guttierez-Reed, prop master Sarah Zachry, first assistant director and safety coordinator David Halls, ammunition supplier Seth Kenney along with his company PDQ Arm & Prop, which supplied the weapons for Rust production.

The actor filed a complaint with the Superior Court in Los Angeles and alleged that negligence by a few people sued by script supervisor Mamie Mitchell. Baldin, in his suit, has also placed claim for share on any damage costs that Mitchell may be entitled to from the people Baldwin names.

It is to be noted that Mitchell was standing behind Hutchins on the sets of Rust. In his lawsuit, Baldwin has said as per The Hollywood Reporter, "This tragedy occurred on a movie set — not a gun range, not a battlefield, not a location where even a remote possibility should exist that a gun would contain live ammunition. More than anyone else on that set, Baldwin has been wrongfully viewed as the perpetrator of this tragedy. By these cross-claims, Baldwin seeks to clear his name."

The actor has also said in his complaint that he lost job opportunities and been fired from a few, also resulting in suffering "physically and emotionally from grief caused by events".
