Sony announces release date for Searching sequel titled Missing

Will Merrick and Nick Johnson will direct the sequel based on a script written by Sev Ohanian & Aneesh Chaganty

Sony Pictures has confirmed that their upcoming sequel to the 2018 film Searching will be released on 20 January next year. It was earlier announced that the film will release on 24 February but now the release date has been moved up to avoid a clash between Elizabeth Banks’ directorial Cocaine Bear and Lionsgate’s Jesus Revolution.

Will Merrick and Nick Johnson will direct the sequel based on a script written by Sev Ohanian & Aneesh Chaganty. The ensemble cast of the film includes Storm Reid, Joaquim de Almeida, Ken Leung, Amy Landecker, and Daniel Henney while Natalie Qasabian, Sev Ohanian, and Aneesh Chaganty serve as producers of the film. The executive producers of the film include Timur Bekmambetov, Adam Sidman, and Jo Henriquez.

The original film, Searching was directed by Aneesh Chaganty who made his directorial debut with the film. The mystery thriller which was released in 2018 had John Cho, Michelle La, Debra Messing, Sylvia Minassian, and Sara Sohn as cast members.
