Zac Efron’s upcoming wrestling film The Iron Claw adds professional wrestler to cast

A24’s upcoming biopic on the American professional wrestling family The Von Erichs has added professional wrestler Maxwell Jacob Friedman to its cast. The film marks the feature film debut of the wrestler. It was earlier announced that the film, titled The Iron Claw, will have Zac Efron in the lead, playing Kevin Von Erich.
The first look image of the film which showed Zac Efron in character, fighting inside the ring, was recently released online. Jeremy Allen White, best known for his appearance in The Bear, is playing Kerry Von Erich while Where The Crawdads Sing fame Harris Dickinson plays David Von Erich. The ensemble cast of the film also includes Holt McCallany, Maura Tierney, and Lily James. The film revolves around the popular American wrestling family the Von Erichs, who had a huge impact on the sports from the 1960s till the present day.
The film is written and directed by Sean Durkin who is best known for making the 2011 thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene. A24, known for critically acclaimed films like Hereditary and Midsommar are producing the film.
While the makers are yet to confirm a release date, The Iron Claw is currently scheduled to release in 2023.
