The first official trailer for The Whale, starring Brendan Fraser in the lead, has been released online. The film is directed by critically acclaimed director Darren Aronofsky who is best known for films like Black Swan and Requiem for a Dream. The Whale is adapted from the stage play of the same name, written by acclaimed playwright Samuel D Hunter.

In the film, Brendan Fraser plays a 300 Kg man in the film who struggles to connect with his teen daughter, played by Stranger Things star Sadie Sink. The film was recently screened at the Venice International Film Festival where Fraser received a six-minute long standing ovation for his performance. The film has gained critical praise and has received a lot of Oscar buzz.

The cast of the film also includes Hong Chau, Samantha Morton, and Ty Simpkins in supporting roles. The Whale marks the return of Aronofsky to the director's chair, nearly five years after he released Mother! Which had Jennifer Lawrence in the lead. A24 is currently planning to give the film a worldwide theatrical release on 9 December.
