The 94th Academy Awards is all set to air on March 27, and the world of cinema is getting ready for the big night. However, West Side Story-star Rachel Zegler has revealed that she wasn't invited to the awards ceremony, even though the Steven Spielberg film has garnered seven nominations.

Responding to a comment on her Instagram, Zegler wrote, "I have tried it all but it doesn't seem to be happening. I will root for West Side Story from my couch and be proud of the work we so tirelessly did 3 years ago. I hope some last-minute miracle occurs and I can celebrate with our film in person but hey, that's how it goes sometimes. I'm disappointed, too. But that's okay. So proud of our movie."

After Zegler's comment, social media erupted with many criticising the Academy. Zegler later posted a follow-up tweet in which she thanked everyone who supported her. "my goodness, folks!! appreciate all the support, i really really do. we live in such unprecedented times, and a lot of work behind the scenes goes into making movie magic happen. that goes for film productions (like the one I am so lucky to be currently shooting in london)……and awards shows alike. let’s all just respect the process and i’ll get off my phone x R. (sic), " she wrote.

Steven Spielberg's West Side Story has garnered seven nomations, including Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Ariana DeBose, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Picture, and Best Director. In January, Zegler won a Golder Globe for her role in the film.
