Succession-actor Alan Ruck has joined the cast of Amazon Studios' upcoming drama The Burial. The actor joins a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Jamie Foxx, Tommy Lee Jones, Jurnee Smollett, Mamoudou Athie, Bill Camp, Dorian Missick, Pamela Reed, Amanda Warren and Jim Klock.

The film is centred on a legal battle over a funeral home chain in the 1990s. It is based on Jonathan Harr’s 1999 article in the New Yorker about the contractual dispute case between funeral home executive Ray Loewen and Mississippi businessman Jeremiah O’Keefe, who hired the flamboyant Willie Gary as an attorney. The jury awarded O’Keefe a total of $500 million, which would bankrupt Loewen’s company.

Details of the role Ruck is set to play remain unknown.

Novitiate director Maggie Betts has been signed to direct the script, which is written by Pulitzer Prize-winner Doug Wright.

Ruck is best known for his role as Connor Roy in HBO's Succession. His other TV credits include Spin City and Mad About You. His film credits include Cheaper by the Dozen and Star Trek: Generations.
