Warner Bros. announces new release dates for Aquaman 2, The Flash, Shazam 2 and other projects

Warner Bros. has shuffled the release dates of multiple upcoming projects, including Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Black Adam, The Flash, Wonka, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

The release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, starring Jason Momoa, and The Flash, which marks Ezra Miller's first solo outing as the titular character, are now pushed to 2023 due to Covid-induced production delays.

While Aquaman 2 has been pushed back from December 16, 2022, to March 17, 2023, The Flash will now release on June 23, 2023, instead of the November 4, 2022 date that was announced earlier.

Dwayne Johnson's superhero film Black Adam has been pushed for three months from July 29, 2022, to October 21, 2022. Meanwhile, DC League of Super-Pets, which also stars Johnson as Krypto the Super-Dog, has been postponed by July 29, 2022, from its May 20, 2022, release date.

On the plus side, another much-anticipated superhero flick is being moved up by a few months. Shazam! Fury of the Gods, headlined by Zachary Levi, will now release during the Christmas season on December 12, 2022, instead of June 2, 2023.

In a statement, Jeff Goldstein, the President of domestic distribution at Warner Bros. said, "We’re thrilled to bring ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ to audiences as a Christmas gift this year."

As far as the non-superhero movies are concerned, Wonka, the Willy Wonka origin film with Timothee Chalamet frontrunning, has been pushed from March 17, 2023, to December 15, 2023. August 4, 2023, is the new release date of Meg 2: The Trench, starring Jason Statham.

Warner Bros.' recent release was The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell and Jeffrey Wright. The Matt Reeves-directorial had the second highest-grossing opening weekend since the pandemic, only next to Spider-Man: No Way Home.
