Producer Jon Landau posted a photo on Twitter with composer Simon Franglen as he begins composing for Avatar: The Way of Water. Simon Franglen was brought on to compose the film after James Horner, who composed the first film, passed away in 2015 after a plane crash. Jon Landau frequently collaborates with James Cameron. He is known for producing Titanic, Avatar, and is now working on Way of the Water.

The Twitter post showed a behind-the-scenes picture of the composer sitting down at the recording studio, composing the score for the long-awaited Avatar sequel. Nearly fourteen years after Avatar, James Cameron is back with a sequel to its sci-fi epic. Reports suggest that the director has already finished most of the work for Avatar 3 and 4. Avatar:

After years of postponement and very little information about the film, the Avatar: The Way of Water team gave us the first ever proper look at the film with a teaser last month.

According to the teaser, it seems like the sequel will explore other parts of Pandora, diving into the oceans, and introducing us to new tribes. It was already reported that director James Cameron has done years of underwater research as the film demands a lot of underwater sequences. The film's delay could also be due to the complexities of shooting such sequences.

The Way of Water sees the return of cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Giovanni Ribisi, and Matt Gerald. Sigourney Weaver will reportedly come back as a different character for the sequel.

Joining the recurring cast members are Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Michelle Yeoh, and Vin Diesel. With more than a decade of mounting hype and expectations, Avatar: The Way of Water is currently scheduled to release on 16 December 2022.
