China has replaced the original climax of David Fincher's 1999 film Fight Club with a placard that shows that the authorities managed to apprehend the criminals.

Fight Club, based on Chuck Palahniuk's book of the same name, stars Brad Pitt and Edward Norton in the lead roles. The film is streaming in China on a streaming platform called Tencent Video. In the climax scene of the film, events that lead up to the death of 'Tyler Durden' set off a chain of explosions that destroy banks, credit records and corporate establishments.

In China, the entire scene is replaced with a display message that reads: “Through the clue provided by Tyler, the police rapidly figured out the whole plan and arrested all criminals, successfully preventing the bomb from exploding. After the trial, Tyler was sent to lunatic asylum receiving psychological treatment.”

Palahniuk reacted to the news and Tweeted sarcastically against the move. "This is SUPER wonderful! Everyone gets a happy ending in China!" he wrote.

Many fans of the original film have expressed disappointment over these new changes on social media.

This isn't the first time that the censor board in China has altered scenes from films. Films like Django Unchained, Bohemian Rhapsody, Lord Of War, Titanic, Iron Man 3, The Karate KidPirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End, Skyfall, Doctor Strange, and many more have undergone significant changes in China.
