Helen Mirren will host season 4 of Documentary Now!

The return of Documentary Now! was announced on February 12, and it has been revealed that Helen Mirren will be the host of the all-new season. The series will pay homage to documentaries in the way of farcical short films and season 4 of the series will consist of 6 new episodes. It is currently under production, however, details about the episodes have also been revealed. 

One of the episodes, titled Two Hairdressers in Bagglyport, is in tribute to 3 Salons at the Seaside and The September Issue. This episode will be a short that will take the perspective of a  fly-on-the-wall who observes a salon owner and her staff as they prepare their annual stylebook. Another episode, How They Threw Rocks and is related to the sports documentary When We Were Kings. It will follow Craig Maes who is a Welsh sportsman. He is known by the nickname 'Field Rock', and he competes in a 1974 bout called The Melon vs. The Felon. Finally, there is Monkey Grifter, which is inspired by My Octopus Teacher. It follows the relationship between a filmmaker and a monkey, where the former will have devious motives towards the latter. 

Over the course of its run, Documentary Now! has been nominated for an Emmy six times. It premiered to rave reviews and the other guest stars who have hosted the show include Cate Blanchett, Owen Wilson, Michael Keaton, Natasha Lyonne, John Mulaney, Michael C. Hall, Taran Killam, and Richard Kind among others. This series is created by Fred Armisen, Bill Hader, Seth Meyers, and Rhys Thomas. They also executive produce the show along with  Alex Buono and Broadway Video's Andrew Singer.

Cast announcements along with air date for the series is expected to be revealed soon.
