James Cameron's much awaited Avatar sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, released in theatres on Friday and became one of the highest grossing films. Taking to social media, the director expressed his gratitude and thanked the audience for receiving the film well.

In a video message posted on Twitter, James said, “I wanted to take all of our fans for coming to see Avatar: The Way of Water in theatres, where it was always meant to be seen and experienced. For me, this film has been deeply personal journey, so it has been incredibly gratifying that already so many of you have already seen on the big screens.”

James' Avatar: The Way of Water was in the making for several years since the release of the first part in 2009. The epic science fiction film is set in a planet called Pandora and how humans try to invade the planet that belongs to the local species and sapiens Na'vi. The sequel takes place 10 years after the events of the first film and the resurgence of the humans to once again take control of Pandora, this time with a much better plan and well-equipped.
