Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is set to direct her maiden feature film, which will be backed by Searchlight Pictures production banner that has bankrolled films like Nomadland and The Shape of Water, reported Variety.

The title, plot of the upcoming film and who will star in it, are yet to be disclosed. "Taylor is a once in a generation artist and storyteller. It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey," said David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield, the presidents of Searchlight Pictures.

It is to be noted that while the upcoming project will be the first feature Taylor will be directing, the singer has also helmed music videos of All Too Well and The Man.

However in Toronto Film Festival that took place this year, Taylor was quoted as saying, by The Guardian, "I’d love to keep taking baby steps forward. And I think that I’m at a place now where the next baby step is not a baby step. It would be committing to making a film. And I feel like I would just absolutely love for the right opportunity to arise because I just absolutely, absolutely adore telling stories this way. She had also stressed on wanting to tell "human stories about human emotions".
