Comedian Jerrod Carmichael will be hosting the 80th Golden Globe Awards, which will be conducted next month, reports Variety.

According to the report, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association president was quoted as saying, "We’re so excited to have Jerrod Carmichael host the historic 80th Golden Globe Awards. His comedic talents have entertained and thrilled audiences while providing thought-provoking moments that are so important in the times we live. Jerrod is the special kind of talent this show calls for to kick off the awards season."

Jerrod had won Emmys last September for writing HBO Max comedy special Jerrod Carmichael: Rothaniel. The comedian will be hosting the three-hour Golden Globe awards telecast on January 10, 2023. It is to be noted that the upcoming awards show marks the return to the NBC after a year-long break due to HFPA's controversies on lack of diversity in its operations. The Golden Globe awards was held in 2021 as a private event and was not streamed on television. It was hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler by following the Covid-19 protocols.
