The remains of Gene Roddenberry, the creator and showrunner of Star Trek: The Original were also shot into space following his death in 1991. The cremated remains of Former cast Star Trek cast member James Doohan, who played Montgomery Scott along with Visual effects supervisor Douglas Trumbell, will also be aboard the rocket that will carry Nichols’ ashes.
