Netflix releases trailer for series based on Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family

The trailer for Netflix’s upcoming comedy series Wednesday has been released online. The live-action show is based on characters from the popular 1964 television series The Addams Family. The adaptation of the popular franchise is developed for Netflix by Tim Burton, who is known for directing hits like A Nightmare Before Christmas, and The Batman. Wednesday will revolve around Morticia and Gomez Addams’ daughter Wednesday Addams. The supernatural mystery comedy is billed as a coming-of-age story as Wednesday joins the Nevermore Academy.

Jenna Ortega, known for her work in The Fallout and Stuck in the Middle, is playing the role of Wednesday Addams while Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Morticia and Luis Guzmán plays Gomez Addams. Christina Ricci, who is known for playing Wednesday Addams in the 1991 film adaptation of The Addams Family is also set to make an appearance in the show.

The first season is directed by Tim Burton, Gandja Monteiro, and James Marshal. Long time collaborator with Tim Burton, Danny Elfman, is composing the music for the show. The eight-episode show is set to premiere by the end of 2022, the makers are yet to release a release date.
