Squid Game bags two honours at US critics' awards

Korean series Squid Game bagged two awards at the Hollywood Critics Association TV Awards.

The series won Best International Series and the lead actor, Lee Jung-jae bagged the Best Actor award in a streaming Series Drama.

Under the category of Best International Series, Squid Game competed with korean series Pachinko, Mexican comedy Acapulco, French thriller Lupin, Spanish heist drama Money Heist and crime drama Narcos: Mexico. Meanwhile, Lee competed with Adam Scott from Severance, Jason Bateman from Ozark and Tom Ellis from Lucifer. It is to be noted that Lee was the only non-English contender.

Set in a dystopian economic environment of Korea, Squid Game acquired a worldwide success. Netflix recently announced that the series will be back for second season, with a mix of old and new characters.

Recently, Squid Game had become the first ever non-English series to be nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the Emmy's 2022.
