Kevin Feige sends a supportive message to Batgirl directors post cancellation

Batgirl directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah received a message from Kevin Feige in which he offered his support to them following the film's cancellation by the studio. The studio executives at Warner Bros decided to axe the film at a time when it was reportedly nearing completion. The news came as a shock to fans and industry insiders alike. Batgirl, which stars Leslie Grace in the lead role, would have also had a cameo from Michael Keaton’s Batman.

Kevin Feige’s statement reads “My friends, I had to reach and let you know we are all thinking about you both. Because of the wonderful news about the wedding (congrats!) and the disappointing news about ‘Batgirl.’ Very proud of you guys are all the amazing work you do and particularly ‘Ms. Marvel’ of course! Can’t wait to see what is next for you. Hope to see you soon.”

Adil El Arbi revealed that directors James Gunn and Edgar Wright have also reached out and lent their support.  Following news that Warner Bros might cancel other DC projects, James Gunn quickly cleared any doubts about his Peacemaker series and reassured the fans that the second season for the series is safe.

The directing duo is best known for directing the recently released Will Smith-Martin Lawrence action-comedy Bad Boys For Life, a follow-up to Michael Bay’s widely popular Bad Boys 1 & 2.
