Tom Hardy joins the cast of Jeff Nichols’ The Bikeriders

Tom Hardy has joined the cast of Jeff Nichols’ upcoming film The Bikeriders. The film is inspired by the 1967 book of the same name by photographer Danny Lyon. The book documents the bike riders and their lifestyle across the US through a series of photographs. Jeff Nichols, who directed Matthew McConaughey in the 2012 film Mud, was approached by New Regency in May after reading his script.

New Regency is producing the film along with Sarah Green and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, who are co-producing it under the banner of Tri-State. Set in the 1960s, the film revolves around the Midwestern motorcycle club and the rise of biker culture, as seen through the eyes of the members of the club. As the club gathers more members, it evolves into a violent biker gang, thereby threatening the lifestyle of the original members.

Jodie Comer, who got an Emmy for her role in Killing Eve, and Austin Butler, who dazzled the audience as Elvis Presley in the singer’s biopic Elvis, are also part of the cast. Since the filming is expected to start in October the makers are yet to announce a release date and the rest of the cast for the film.
