Space Force, the Netflix comedy series starring Steve Carell, John Malkovich and Ben Schwartz has been cancelled by the streamer after two seasons.

The news comes just more than a month since the premiere of the second season. According to reports, the low viewership against the show's enormous cost is the primary reason for the cancellation.

Inspired by former President Donald Trump's proposal for the sixth branch of the military, Space Force revolved around a group of people tasked with establishing the sixth branch of the United States Armed Forces, the Space Force. The second season picked up with General Naird (Carell) and his underdog team having to prove their worth to a new administration while dealing with interpersonal challenges. The series also starred Tawny Newsome, Dianna Silvers, Don Lake and Jimmy O. Yang

Space Force was co-created by Carell and Greg Daniels. Daniels also served as co-showrunner with Norm Hiscock. Daniels and Hiscock executive produced with Carell, Howard Klein, Brent Forrester and Ken Kwapis.
