Gal Gadot to play Evil Queen in Snow White live-action film
The film has Rachel Zegler playing the titular role
We had earlier reported that a live-action Snow White film is in development at Disney, with Rachel Zegler set to star in the titular role.
Now, the latest is that Wonder Woman-actor Gal Gadot is in final negotiations to play the role of Evil Queen in the film.
The original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs cartoon was released in 1938. It was based on Brothers Grimm's fairytale and the inaugural feature kickstarted Disney's slate of animated features. The live-action adaptation, set to be directed by Marc Webb, will expand upon the story and music from the original.
In the story, Evil Queen attempts to trick Snow White into eating a poisoned apple after becoming jealous of her beauty. She delivers the famous line: "Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?"
The movie will have new songs written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the Oscar- and Tony-winning duo behind La La Land, The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen.
Produced by Marc Platt, the project is expected to start filming in 2022.
