Christian Bale is reportedly set to star in The Church of the Living Dangerously, a feature film based on the Vanity Fair article by the same name. According to reports, in addition to acting, Bale will also be producing the project in association with New Regency and The Gotham Group. New Regency has acquired the rights to adapt the article by David Kushner, and Bale will be essaying the role of John Lee Bishop, a pastor who, in a turn of events, starts to smuggle drugs.

The film will be written by Charles Randolph, the Oscar-winning co-writer of the 2015 film, The Big Short, also starring Bale. Randolph will also be executive producing the film with Kushner and Margaret Riley. Further details related to the project including the director and cast are yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, Bale has recently finished filming for a yet-to-be-titled David O Russell directorial, co-starring Margot Robbie and John David Washington. He will also be seen in the much-awaited superhero film, Thor: Love and Thunder next year.
