Dune trailer out: Timothee Chalamet embarks on an epic journey

Denis Villeneuve, the master of modern sci-fi epics, is back with this latest saga. Adapted from Frank Herbert's novel, Dune (2020) is the newest screen adaptation of the story of Paul Atreides, the would-be ruler of the desert planet of Arrakis. The trailer introduces Timothée Chalamet as Paul, with Rebecca Ferguson and Oscar Isaac essaying his parents.

Embarking on his epic desert journey, Paul is accompanied by Josh Brolin as his weapons teacher Gurney Halleck, actor-singer Zendaya as a mysterious love interest, and Jason Mamoa as the swordmaster of House Atreides. The star-studded cast also includes Charlotte Rampling, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Javier Bardem and others. “Fear is a mind-killer,” Timothée says in the trailer, as Hans Zimmer’s haunted remix of Eclipse plays near the end.

The official synopsis of Dune reads: “A mythic and emotionally charged hero's journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people.”

A two-part saga, Dune is set for release in the United States on December 18. The film will be released in IMAX and 3D.

Villeneuve had last directed Blade Runner 2049. Dune marks his second consecutive collaboration with Hans Zimmer. The Oscar-winning composer had famously passed on Christopher Nolan’s Tenet to work on Dune
