Director K Vasu passes away

Yesteryear filmmaker K Vasu, notably known for directing Chiranjeevi in his debut film Pranam Khareedu, breathed his last on Friday. He was 72 years old. Vasu passed away at KIMS Hospitals, where he was admitted a few days ago for a kidney-related ailment.

K Vasu has also helmed Joker Mama Super Alludu (1992), the first and one of the very few films that had Brahmanandam as its lead actor. He has had a memorable, commercially successful stint in the film industry through the 80s and 90s, particularly garnering acclaim for making theological biopics like Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Mahatyam (1982) and Ayyappa Swamy Mahatyam (1992).

He is also known for directing Chiranjeevi in multiple films, including Thodu Dongalu (1981), which also featured Krishna together, along with Allullu Osthunaru, where Chiranjeevi shared screen space with Chandramohan. Aadapilla (1991), Puttinilla Mettinilla (1973), Pakkinti Ammayi (1981), Kalahala Kapuram (1982) and Kothala Rayudu (1979) are some of his other noteworthy directorials.

K Vasu’s mortal remains will be transported to his film nagar residence from the hospital on Saturday morning, which will be followed by final rites at Mahaprasthanam.
