I’m going with RRR winning best pic: Jason Blum

Film producer Jason Blum, who has backed Oscar-winning films like Get Out and BlacKkKlansma, assures that the Indian period action drama, RRR, helmed by SS Rajamouli, will win the best picture award at the Oscars to be held this year.

"I'm going with RRR winning best pic. You heard it here first. Mark it down, please. If I'm right, I am awarding myself my own Oscar," the producer wrote on social media. To this, the official handle of RRR, replied, "We won you, Blum!! Thank you so much for your kind words.”

A commercially successful and critically acclaimed film, RRR is a fictional tale of two freedom fighters, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Junior NTR. It also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in key roles. Released theatrically last March, RRR collected over Rs 1,200 crore at the global box office.

RRR has been getting praise and recognition from the Western audience post its streaming on Netflix.  It has earned two nominations in the Golden Globes, Best Picture - Non-English and Best Song for Naatu Naatu.
