Youtuber and Bigg Boss season 5 contestant Abishek Raaja is all set to make his directorial debut with a film titled Jaam Jaam. Written by the director himself, the film is being produced by G Dilli Babu under his banner, Axess Film Factory.

Elaborating on the reason behind the title, Abishek says, “The title is a reference to the expression, Jaam Jaam nu kalyanam pannanum, so of course the film revolves around a wedding and the wacky misadventures that happen around it. It is about a destination wedding gone wrong.” He then adds, “This is a not-so-breezy romantic comedy.” The first look poster of the film bears the subtitle, “A rom-kaamam flick” On the thematic connection to the subtitle, Abishek says, “There is lust in love and then there is a bit of love in lust as well, the film tries to understand the difference between both.”

While the makers are yet to announce the cast and the music director, the technical crew members have been confirmed. Jaam Jaam has a list of heavy-hitters like Karnan-fame Theni Eshwar handling the cinematography and Abhinav Sunder Nayak taking care of the editing, the latter recently turned director with the Malayalam film, Mukundan Unni Associates. On his technical team, Abishek says, “Theni Eshwar was impressed with the story and he told me that the film would go on to fuel an important discussion. Jaam Jaam demands a colourful, stylish palette and I thought Theni Eshwar would be perfect. As for Abhinav Sunder, I thought Jaam Jaam needed a certain type of flair and sophistication in editing that he could contribute.”

On rumours that the film is part of a trilogy, Abishek clarifies that Jaam Jaam completes Axess Film Factory’s thematic trilogy about relationships, which begins with Oh My Kadavule in 2020 and is followed up by Bachelor in 2021.

The director goes on to reveal that the primary cast along with the music director, will be announced through a promotional video in the next few days. With plans of shooting it predominantly in Chennai, some portions of the film will also be set in Kumbakonam.
