Pig becomes Nicolas Cage's best-reviewed live-action film

Pig has become the best-reviewed live-action film, and the second best-reviewed film overall in Nicolas Cage's career. The film currently holds a score of 97% on the review aggregation website, Rotten Tomatoes. Having accumulated 151 reviews, the film has also been 'certified fresh' on the website.

With respect to the score, Pig ties in with the animated titled Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which still remains the highest-rated film in Cage's career with a score of 97%. However, the animated film, in which Cage voiced Spider-Man Noir, gains an upper hand with 391 reviews. Some other highly rated films in the actor's filmography include Matchstick Men, Colour Out of Space, Raising Arizona, Face/Off, Moonstruck, and Adaptation.

Pig, which marks the directorial debut of Michael Sarnoski, is touted as a comeback for Cage after a string of critical and commercial failures over the past decade. Critics have lauded Cage's performance, with many pointing at the likelihood of the film fetching him an Academy Award nomination. Cage won an Oscar for his performance in the 1995 film, Leaving Las Vegas. In Pig, he plays a truffle forager who is on a quest to trace the whereabouts of his truffle-finding pig when it suddenly goes missing.

Distributed by Neon, the studio that released the Oscar-winning film Parasite in the US, Pig was released last month. There has been no official word on the film's release in India yet.
