Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas to debut in Bollywood with the remake of Prabhas' Chatrapathi

Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas is set to make his Bollywood debut with the remake of SS Rajamouli's ChatrapathiThis project will also mark director VV Vinayak's first Hindi film.

Interestingly, it was Vinayak who launched Sai Sreenivas in Telugu too with the 2014 film, Alludu Seenu. The Chatrapathi remake will be bankrolled by Jayantilal Gada's Pen Studios.

"Chatrapathi is a great script. We needed a southern star to carry it to Bollywood, and we saw Bellamkonda as a perfect fit. We are very excited about this project, and everything is quickly falling in place. We have updated the script to match Bollywood sensibilities," said Jayantilal Gada in a statement.

The original film starred Prabhas in the lead and revolved around the story of a young man who is in search of the family he has lost. The film also featured Shriya Saran, Venu Madhav, Pradeep Rawat and Bhanupriya in pivotal roles.

Sreenivas, who recently starred in the successful Rakshasudu, has over the years featured in hits like Jaya Janaki Nayaka, Saakshyam, Kavacham and Sita.

"This is a perfect project for my big debut in Bollywood. It's a great opportunity to collaborate with Dr Gada and Pen Studios, and to be reunited with my first ever director VV Vinayak sir. Although taking on a role that Prabhas did is a huge responsibility, I am glad I'm doing it as it's the perfect script," Sreenivas said.
