Sadak 2 poster: Complaint against Alia Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt for hurting Hindu sentiments

The poster shows an empty road against a view of Mount Kailash in the Himalayas

A complaint has been filed against filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, and actor Alia Bhatt, for allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments with the poster of Sadak 2. The poster, which was launched on June 29, shows an empty road against a view of Mount Kailash in the Transhimalaya.

According to reports, the complainant, a resident of Muzaffarpur in Bihar, has taken exception to the use of Kailash Mansarovar’s image in the poster. A case has been lodged under IPC sections 295A (deliberately outraging religious feelings) and 120B (criminal conspiracy), reports state. The matter will next be heard in court on July 8.

A sequel to Sadak (1991), Sadak 2 stars Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt. The film marks Mahesh Bhatt’s directorial comeback after a gap of 21 years. Previously slated for theatres on July 10, the film will now be released directly on Disney+ Hotstar in the coming weeks.

Explaining the significance of Mount Kailash in the poster, Alia had previously read out a note from Mahesh Bhatt. In a video conference, the actor had shared, "Mount Kailash - the ageless mountain has the footprints of gods and sages. It is the abode of the god of all gods - Lord Shiva. Do we really need anything else or actors in that sacred space? Since the beginning of time, humanity found its shelter in Kailash. This is the place where all search ends. Sadak 2 is the road to love."
