Tamannaah, who was last seen in Kanne Kalaimaane, has signed a horror-comedy film, to be directed by Rohin Venkatesan, who debuted with the 2017 Sshivadha-starrer, Adhey Kangal.

On why he chose the much-abused horror-comedy genre for his second film, Rohin, who has taken nearly a year to complete the film's script, says that his focus was more on writing a quality script rather than trying to be 'different' just for the sake of it. "However, when I decided to do a horror comedy, I decided to stay away from all the done-to-death tropes in that genre. My film will have a strong storyline, and the humor will neatly compliment it. There won't be crass comedy, or anything that feels out of place to the film. There will be a purpose to every character and every comedian on the screen. People won't be just walking in and out of scenes, cracking jokes. Tamannnaah, in particular, has a solid character to play."

The yet-to-be-titled film, which is expected to be announced officially on April 14, will go on floors in late May. Also starring Yogi Babu, Mansoor Ali Khan, Bhagavathi Perumal in supporting roles, the film will have its music composed by Ghibran, while Dani Raymond of Achcham yenbathu madamaiyada fame will handle the cinematography.

Interestingly Tamannaah, who had dabbled in the horror-comedy genre with the 2016 Vijay directorial, Devi, is also awaiting the release of the second installment in that franchise, which is scheduled to hit the screens on April 12. She also has untitled the Vishal-starrer, directed by Sundar C, That is Mahalakshmi (Queen Telugu remake), Sye Raa, and the third instalment in the Telugu hit franchise Raju Gari Gadhi, to be directed by Omkar, in the pipeline
