Director Arun Prabhu Purushothaman, who debuted with critically-acclaimed Aruvi, has been working on his next project for more than a year now. Several months after no updates on the film’s front, reports have now emerged that the project has been titled Yazh. Rumours are also rife that the new film, which revolves around the life of a 90-year-old, whose life takes unexpected turns after a couple of youngsters accidentally enter his house, features a nonagenarian actor SN Bhatt in the lead.

SN Bhatt, who regularly features in commercials, made his acting debut with Balu Mahendra’s Moondram Pirai and went on to work in films such as Madrasapattinam and Thirumanam Ennum Nikkah. He was also seen in a blink-and-miss role in Jyothika-starrer, Kaatrin Mozhi, directed by Radha Mohan.

Director Arun Prabhu, talking about these rumours, says that almost all of these reports are random and false. "We are silently working on our film, which cannot be easily categorized into a single genre. The fact that it has been titled Yazh is news to me. Only after finishing the shoot, we will decide on how to take the film to the audiences. All these speculations are premature and unnecessary." On asked whether the story is about a ninety-year-old, Arun says, "It's not about a single person's story. There are several important characters. The film is about their dynamics."

The film, produced by 24 AM Studios, went on the floors last May, and is expected to hit the screens in August.
