It was an evening of celebration on Monday for the team of Arunraja Kamaraj's Kanaa, which celebrated the film's success at a star hotel in Chennai. Bringing back the tradition of distributing shields, the film's producer, Sivakarthikeyan handed them out to the team members. The guest list, apart from the cast and crew of the film, also included members of the Tamil Nadu cricket association for disabled, who were presented with cricket kits.

First on the podium was the film's editor Ruben, who quipped, "The crew actually views me as the real villain of the film for cutting out scenes they laboured on." Music director Dhibu Ninan Thomas, who took the stage next, said, "The reason for Kanaa's success is the trust and love of those who worked on the film. More than a hundred people worked on the album and background score."

The film's lead, Aishwarya Rajesh, who received special cricket training for her role, said, "I didn't know how to play cricket before Kanaa, and it was a risk for the team to have me on board. Recently, a girl asked me for Kousi (her character) T-shirt. I think that's the success of the film."

Sathyaraj, who played Aishwarya's father in the film, compared the team of friends who made the film--Sivakarthikeyan, Dhibu Ninan Thomas, and Arunraja Kamaraj--to his own equation with the late Manivannan. About the success of the film, he added, "Female-centric films aren't new to Tamil cinema, but a film like Kanaa was. The biggest success of Kanaa is it makes room for more such films. The success of this film is the success of our society."

Arunraja Kamaraj credited Sivakarthikeyan for the film's sucess, and added, "I became a lyricist because of Dhibu as he was the one who encouraged me to take my first step. Aishwarya Rajesh came voluntarily into the team. All of their hardwork made the film what it is."

Sivakarthikeyan thanked the team, and said, "I can make any number of films with such a team of talented friends. My second production with the Black Sheep team is progressing at a brisk pace and it will also be a quality product." On behalf of the Kanaa team, he also pledged that a share of the profits will be donated to farmers who are in dire need of financial support.
