South Indian Film Financiers Association launched

South Indian Film Financiers Association launched

The association is headed by veteran distributor Tirupur Subramaniam

The financiers who fund Tamil films have now formed a common body called South Indian Film Financiers Association (SIFFA).

Speaking about the reason for the creation of this association, its President Tirupur Subramaniam says, "We've formed this association after consulting all the unions of the Tamil film industry. Working towards the upliftment of Tamil cinema is our prime motive. We will try our best to aid the release of those films which have been delayed due to financial issues, and also help restart the shooting of films which are stalled. We have invited producers to talk about these negotiations. Our first motive is to release the films which have the potential to reach the audience, and if the film turns out to be a good grosser, we will recover our money from the profit. Films like Idam Porul Eval and Madha Gaja Raja, which have been waiting in the cans for long, will benefit from this."

About SIFFA's policies, the veteran distributor adds, "We have advised actors to complete the projects they are working on first, before moving on to the next project. If any actor breaks this rule, or if a director exceeds the promised budget, we won't be funding their next project. Also, producers are asked not to get funds from a new financier without first obtaining permission from the current financier."

The association currently has twenty members, and apart from the President Tirupur Subramaniam, financiers  Chandraprakash Jain,  Anbu Chezian, and Arun Pandian have been unanimously elected as the Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary, respectively.
