Subtitlist Rekhs claims that Lyca owes her money for 2.0; production house reacts  

The famous subtitlist Rekhs had complained on Twitter yesterday that Lyca Productions hasn't paid her for subtitling Rajinikanth's 2.0. She wrote,

can @LycaProductions pls let me know when my team & i will be paid for #2pointO we handed over all reels, both langs in good faith, trusting u won't let us dwn. Sadly my last resort but i strongly feel cast & crew shd b paid. i cn u/s delay but not this silence 2my calls/mail

When reached out to her, she said, "The film got released in November. I gave them 10 months to settle my payments. I messaged, called and mailed them numerous times, but, all my efforts were futile." Rekhs feels that the subtitles and subtitlists don't get their due. "Subtitles are the backbones of films. Gary Whitta, the writer of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, said he was able to enjoy 2.0 because of the subtitles. But, people in the film industry hardly realise it's importance. A film reaches a global audience when it carries a subtitle. I just wanted to make the producers who'll be associating with in the future to think twice before defaulting my payment, that's the reason why I tweeted about this."

Rekhs also revealed that she has faced the same problem with films like Aarambam and Viswaroopam. "Incidentally, the manager of 2.0 was in charge of Arrambam too. Director Vishnu Vardhan is very empathetic and when he came to know about the payment issue, he reached out to me at once and apologised. I also haven't received my pay for Viswaroopam. An auditor named Shanmugam was my point of contact, and I believe Kamal Haasan isn't even aware of the issue. I'm highly grateful to filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon as he relaunched me with Vinnaithandi Varuvaya, but sadly, he himself hasn't paid me for VTV and Neethane En Ponvasantham."

When we reached out to the spokesperson of Lyca Productions to comment on her allegations, he said, "Our company is extremely reachable, and Rekhs' claims stating that we were unresponsive to her calls and emails are baseless and false. We always make sure that all our collaborators are paid on time.  The executive producer felt extremely bad on seeing her tweet and has asked the production unit of 2.0 to find the payment records to prove our innocence."

He also went on to complain that Rekhs has a problem with all the production houses and lacks professionalism. "She has this habit of needlessly blaming production houses. In the worst-case scenario, she would have demanded an unrealistic, high pay, but, we would have given her according to the market standards. We are currently in the process of finding out the documents to validate our statement."
