First look of Yami Gautam from Uri: The Surgical Strike is out

The film is a military drama based on the 2016 surgical strike conducted by the Indian Army against Pakistan in response to the Uri attacks in Kashmir

The first look of Yami Gautam as an Indian Intelligence officer in Uri: The Surgical Strike was unveiled today. The film is a military drama based on the 2016 surgical strike conducted by the Indian Army against Pakistan in response to the Uri attacks in Kashmir. Fronted by Vicky Kaushal, the film also stars Paresh Rawal, Kirti Kulhari and Mohit Raina in pivotal roles.

“The look for Uri is something very different from what I have been seen in on screen before. It had to be a fuss-free, yet very neat look, and thus the decision to chop the tresses was made consciously to suit the character. When you’re portraying a real life incident there’s an added responsibility to make things more authentic and as real as possible,” says Yami, who was last seen in Shree Narayan Singh’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu.

Written and directed by Aditya Dhar, Uri: The Surgical Strike is produced by RSVP Movies. The film’s teaser was released on September 27 on occasion of the second anniversary of the strike. The film is slated for release worldwide on January 11, 2019.
