‘Rahul Ravindran is an actor’s director’

Solan-born model Ruhani Sharma is making her Telugu debut opposite Sushanth in Chi La Sow. The actor, who has a degree in public administration, says, “Director Rahul Ravindran saw my pictures on Instagram and approached me for this role. They were impressed with the adverts I was part of and selected me for this role through audition.”

Chi La Sow is a film about the lives of city-bred youngsters and the entire story happens in a day. Ruhani just can’t stop gushing about her role in the film. “I will be seen as an independent, traditional girl, who is calm and inexpressive by nature. She gets emotionally attached to a guy. This role has given me ample scope to perform and I believe I've done my best. The people, who saw the film, have immensely liked my character and I’m excited to see the audience's reaction post-release,” she says.

Although it’s her debut film, Ruhani didn’t shy away from dubbing her own lines in the film. “I've watched a lot of south Indian films in the past and I’m quite familiar with the emotional quotient of these films. Recently, I happened to watch all the films of actor Nani and slowly started picking up my language,” she reveals.

Incidentally, the film also marks the debut of Rahul Ravindran as the director. Asked about how he was on the sets, the Ruhani says, “He’s a tough taskmaster and an actor’s director. He is extremely calm and he really knows what he wants from his actors. He concentrated a lot on our performances; he would go through things in-depth. Also, being an actor himself, he is completely focussed on how our performances should turn out and how real it feels on screen.”

Ruhani reveals that her co-star Sushanth and she discussed a lot about cinema while working on this film. “Sushanth has been really supportive and it’s been an absolute pleasure to work with such a beautiful team.”

Interestingly, Ruhani’s ‘Ranbir Kapoor’ dialogue from the film that goes "Prathi okkadiki Katrina Kaif kavali, but evadu Ranbir Kapoor la undadu"(Every guy wants Katrina Kaif, but not one of them looks like Ranbir Kapoor) has struck a chord with the audience and celebrities alike. Rakul Preet’s dub smash of this dialogue has gone viral on social media. Sharing her joy over the response those lines have received, Ruhani says, “It’s completely relatable as every girl dreams someone like Ranbir Kapoor will be her boyfriend. The way things lead up to that scene will leave the audience in splits.”
