‘The kind of role I have never played in my career’

Pichuvakathi, starring Inigo Prabhakar, Yogi Babu, and Mottai Rajendran, is all set for release next week. Inigo Prabhkar, who has featured in films like Chennai 6000028, Saroja, and Sundarapandiyan, will be seen in a role that he says is different from the ones he’s played so far. “My character, Pichuvakathi Anbu, is a good-for-nothing guy, but he’s also bold and possessed with a zest for life. When the director narrated the script, I was immediately bowled over,” says Inigo.

But he’d already committed to another project, the look for which had to be maintained for another two months. “I explained that because of this dilemma, there might be a delay. He told me the producer was convinced that I was perfect for the role, and therefore, did not mind it,” he adds.

Inigo says that he didn’t have to undertake any special preparations for the role. “The only requisite was that I should be natural. I had to be able to relate to the role and get the pulse.” Having done, what he calls, ‘soft roles’, the actor says it was a great experience to portray this role, and work with his co-actors. “For example, during the shoot of the film, Mottai Rajendran ended up with five stitches, but he continued shooting as if nothing happened. That was inspiring.”

He anticipates the movie will be received well by the audiences. “The song, Yea Sirukki, has already been released on Facebook and has already crossed 1 million views on YouTube. Going by those numbers, I have to say that the movie will be an enjoyable fare for everyone, with B and C centres particularly set for a lot of entertainment.”
