Flash Back: A reluctant poser

There are a few actors who are camera-shy. Despite being an extraordinary actor, Karthik is a reluctant poser. He's alright with press photographers, but when it comes to still photography, he isn't very cooperative. He feels uncomfortable posing for a still.

These days it's easy to capture actions in a photo, but that wasn't the case back then. Very few actors such as Kamal Haasan know how to pose to make a still look like a photo with actions. This particular photograph was taken during the early 80s after persuading Karthik to do an action pose. His natural charisma comes through really well in it, I feel.

Karthik is a wonderful actor. I personally love his Kizhakku Vasal in which he starred alongside Revathi. They both were brilliant in the film, and he went on to win a Filmfare award too. I've only worked on a few films with him. But as a press photographer, I've captured him many times.

He's a really nice person also. Even today, when I post photos of him on my social media account, he comments saying that I'm a magician when it comes to photographs. Despite his reluctance, Karthik is a wonderful subject and I would definitely love to shoot him again.
