Adhyaksha in America Movie Review: A fun-filled comedy entertainer 

The goal of any film is to reach the audience and gets its due. Adhyaksha in America not only achieves this but also takes us through a refreshing romantic journey.  The film, which has been inspired from the Malayalam film, Two Countries, has been adapted well for the Kannada audience by Yoganand Muddan.

The story begins with a flashback told by Ullas (Sharan) to Jimmy (Sadhu Kokila) in Seattle. The former is a laidback and irresponsible youngster, who doesn’t want to take risks in life. His plans to make fast money ends up bringing him a proposal to marry Nandini (Ragini Dwivedi), a rich businesswoman, and he does so.  However, his happiness is shortlived, when he gets to know that his wife is a chronic alcoholic. Ullas works towards getting Nandini to overcome her alcoholism, especially after he gets to know the real reason behind her being so.

Just when things seem to be getting better, Ullas gets a video call from his friend (Shivaraj KR Pete) and Nandini gets to know a dark secret about her husband through it. After this, she almost decides to divorce him. Whether Ullas and Nandini separate for good or if will they get reunited, forms the rest of the plot of this roller-coaster entertainer. 

Dialogue writer-turned-director Yoganand Muddan has made good use of his primary skill in his directorial debut. The dialogues in Adhyaksha in America go a long way to making this a thorough entertainer. The humour that is derived from cross-cultural gaffes and family values is well handled. The film also highlights topics that are usually not discussed in public, all while the jokes keep us in splits.There are flaws in the film, but the comic tone covers these up well.

Sharan, despite being the hero, shows he's not about to give up his roots in comedy. He lights up the screen in every frame and keeps up that enthusiastic energy up until the climax. The senior actors — Sadhu Kokila, Rangayana Raghu and Shivaraj KR Pete — provide Sharan with ample support with their presence and comic timing. Ragini Dwivedi is believable in the role of an NRI girl.

A mix of romantic medleys, fast numbers, and pathos tunes by music director Harikrishna, aids the flow of the film.

The first-time director Yoganand Muddan succedds in makign everyone laugh, and Adhyaksha in America proves to be fun-filled beginning for this festive season of Dasara.
