Krishna Garments Movie Review: A disappointing thriller that lacks focus

On the whole, Krishna Garments feels like watching a mega serial, and would perhaps have worked better as a telefilm
Rating:(2 / 5)

Siddu Poornachandra seems to love multi-tasking. Apart from writing and directing Krishna Garments, he has also written the lyrics of the film. It is indeed a commendable effort, but sadly, it falls short. The film could have been much better if Siddu had known how to identify his mistakes.

Director: Siddu Poornachandra
Cast: Chandu S Gowda, Bhaskar Ninasam, Rashmitha, Rajesh Nataranga

The film begins with a father telling his son the story of the rise of Krishna Garments. Ashok (Bhaskar Ninasam) and Nethra (Rashmitha) marry against the wishes of their families and move to a city. While Ashok takes a job at a petrol bunk, Nethra starts working in a garment factory. However, things do not go well for her over there and she decides to quit. The twist in the tale comes when Sujay (Chandu S Gowda), the owner of the factory, is murdered and his body is placed in the couple’s home. Adding more spice to the events, an inspector (Rajesh Nataranga) starts investigating the case and narrows down the list of suspects.

While all of this sounds good on paper, Siddu fails when it comes to the execution. What could have been an exciting thriller ends up being something far lesser, due, in large part, to the exaggerated emotional episodes involving the couple, which take our attention away from the core plot. Repetitive sequences and situations also make the viewers lose interest in the plot. Despite being a well-known face on the small screen, Chandu Gowda's performance as the antagonist is quite underwhelming.

The loud background score is really the only thing that keeps the audience awake throughout the runtime. On the whole, Krishna Garments feels like watching a mega serial, and would perhaps have worked better as a telefilm.
