Heartstopper renewed for two more seasons at Netflix

Netflix's recent chartbuster, the young adult romance series Heartstopper, has been renewed for a second and third season by the streamer.

Based on series creator Alice Oseman's illustrated graphic novel series, the coming-of-age romantic comedy-drama centers on two teenage boys, Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor) who meet in secondary school. The reserved and shy Charlie and the rough and tumble Nick begin seeing each other as more than friends. As they develop their romantic relationship, they have to deal with the ups and downs that queer life brings in.

Though plot details for the upcoming seasons are kept under wraps, there is no shortage of content to adapt from Oseman's world. With the first season covering the first two graphic novels in Oseman's book series, one can expect that the remaining three novels will be covered in the upcoming two seasons, or more if the streamer stretches the series further.

Oseman will return as series writer and creator for the next two seasons. Apart from Locke and Connor, the first season also starred Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Sebastian Croft, Corinna Brown, Cormac Hyde-Corrin, Kizzy Edgell, and Stephen Fry. Oscar-winner Olivia Coleman appeared in a special guest role as Kit's mother.

Netflix is yet to announce the release dates of the upcoming seasons.
