Adolescence - Netflix
Created by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, the limited series stars Owen Cooper as a young teenage boy, influenced by the 'manosphere', is arrested for the murder of his female classmate. Each of the episodes was shot in a single continuous take. Cooper became the youngest male actor to win an Emmy for this show. It also won Emmys for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and directing for a limited or anthology series for Barantini in addition to acting wins for Graham and Erin Doherty.
Hacks - JioHotstar
Created by Lucia Aniello, Paul W Downs, and Jen Statsky in 2021, follows Deborah Vance (Jean Smart), a legendary stand-up comedian, and her young comedy writer Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder), as they navigate the evolving dynamics of their professional partnership and personal lives within the comedy industry. After four nominations, it finally won Outstanding Comedy Series for its third season. Smart scored her fourth consecutive Emmy, while Einbinder took home her first. It has four seasons and is renewed for its fifth.
Severance - Apple TV+
Severance, created by Dan Erickson in 2022, stars Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, and Tramell Tillman in lead roles. It follows Lumon Industries employees who undergo a medical procedure to surgically separate their work memories from their personal lives. The sci-fi show has received 41 nominations at the Emmys, including two each for Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Scott, and has won ten awards. It has two seasons and has been renewed for the third.
The Pitt - JioHotstar
Created by R Scott Gemmill, the medical drama stars Noah Wyle, Tracy Ifeachor, Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh and others. Set in Pittsburgh, the show explores the challenges of treating critically ill patients, workplace conflicts, and the emotional toll on healthcare professionals. The first season won three Emmys including Outstanding Drama Series.
The Penguin - JioHotstar
Developed by Lauren LeFranc for HBO, the mini series is based on the DC Comics character and serves as a spin-off from The Batman (2022). The show is set after the events of Batman following Oz Cobb's (Colin Farrell playing The Penguin) violent rise to power in Gotham City's criminal underworld. It won Cristin Milioti an Emmy this year for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
Slow Horses - Apple TV+
Based on the Slough House series of novels by Mick Herron and created by comedian Will Smith, the British spy drama is about a dysfunctional team of MI5 agents known as "Slow Horses," who are relegated to Slough House, an administrative dumping ground for failed spies under the supervision of Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman). Released in 2022, the show has four seasons currently and took home an Emmy for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series recently.
