The eighth season of popular reality show Bigg Boss Tamil 8 was launched with a bang with a new yet familiar host. Actor Vijay Sethupathi has come to fill in the shoes of Kamal Haasan as the host after the latter stepped away to fulfil his acting commitments. He introduced 18 contestants who were a mixed bag of actors, singers, fellow host, serial actors, newcomers, a producer and more.

Ravindar Chandrasekaran

A noted producer and popular YouTube reviewer, Ravindar Chandrasekaran was the first contestant to enter the house. Ravindar has previously reviewed seasons of Bigg Boss Tamil and has now stepped into the reality show, known for its controversies and high-end drama. He has produced films like Nalanum Nandhiniyum, Kolai Nokku Paarvai, Kalyanam, and Sutta Kadhai through his banner Libra Productions.

Sanchana Namidass

Remember Vijay Sethupathi's daughter from his recent hit film Maharaja? Yes, Sanchana Namidass was the second contestant in the house and Vijay Sethupathi himself was surprised and asked what she was doing there. Following her debut in Maharaja and having signed a few more projects, Sanchana is all ready to make her mark in the show.

Dharsha Gupta

Dharsha Gupta is an actor who has made her way into the hearts of Tamil people through serials like Mullum Malarum, Senthoora Poove and eventually became a household name after her stint in popular reality cooking show Cooku With Comali. She has also played notable roles in films like Rudra Thandavam, Oh My Ghost and the recent political web series Thalaimai Seyalagam.

Sathya

Sathya is the fourth contestant to join the team of inmates. His wife and singer Ramya NSK was a former contestant in the house. Known for his role in the serial Neelakuyil, the actor and fitness enthusiast has also made a mark in the hit series Kanaa Kaanum Kalangal.

Deepak Dinkar

Popular TV host and serial actor Deepak Dinkar began his career in the early 2000s and quickly became a familiar name with serials like Roja Kootam, Thirumathi Selvam, Thamizhum Saraswathiyum, Pandian Stores and Bharathi Kannamma. He has also participated in Jodi Number One and hosted the show for five years. On the acting front, he was last seen in Samuthirakani's Vinodhaya Sitham.

RJ Ananthi

Ananthi Iyappan, a popular radio jockey, actor, and social media influencer is also part of the BB house. She is also known for her roles in Comali, Bigil, Netrikann, Dharala Prabhu, and the latest Nanban Oruvan Vandha Piragu alongside Jayam Ravi. She informed that she is ready to break her comfort zone and meet new challenges

Sunita Gogoi

After proving her talent in several TV shows and showcasing her comedy skills as a 'comali' in the popular cooking show Cooku With Comali, Sunita Gogoi had entered the house to speak her mind and give a glimpse of how she is off-screen. Sunita started her career as a dancer in Jodi Number One seasons 5 and 7. A native of Assam, she quicky learnt Tamil and the way to the people's hearts. Gana Jeffry

A self-made musician, Jeffry has made a mark with his unique songs and performance. His songs often reflect on his life, struggles and the way he was brought up. Crediting his mother as his first Guru, his words on the show, during his introduction, made everyone emotional.

Ranjith

Much to the surprise of everyone veteran actor Ranjith entered the house as a contestant. It was even more surprising for fans when Vijay Sethupathi questioned him about his recent film Kavundampalayam, which sparked controversy for its caste politics. Ranjith made his acting debut in 1993 with Pon Vilangu, and went on do Minor Mappillai, Bharathi Kannamma, Maru Malarchi, and Cheran Chozhan Pandian, among others. He is currently working on the serial Baakiyalakshmi.

Pavithra Janani

Another serial actor Pavithra Janani is part of the BB house. Pavithra is known for her compelling portrayal as Malar in Eeramana Rojave and Abhinaya in Thendral Vandhu Ennai Thodum. She has also played prominent roles in the hit series Saravanan Meenatchi which ran from 2011 to 2018.

Soundariya Nanjundan

After starting her career in modelling, Soundarya Nanjundan got her big break when she acted in the Tamil web series Vera Mari Office. Speaking about her entry, she said that she wants to use the voice that everyone mocked to say her thoughts and win the popular show.

Arun Prasath

Another familiar Vijay TV face Arun Prasath is known for playing Bharathi in the hit series Bharathi Kannamma. He began his career with short films like Pagal Kanavu and Yedho Maayam Seithaai and later debut in Tamil cinema with Meyaadha Maan. Although he played a few roles in films like Eno Vaanilai Marudhe and Jada, it is role as Bharathi in Bharathi Kannamma that made him a household name.

Tharshika

Actor and dancer Tharshika is one of the newcomers who had joined the show with much enthusiasm to prove herself. Tharshika admitted that she was tired of being the second choice and wanted people to recognise her. She also noted that the show will make her closer to her dreams.

VJ Vishal

VJ Vishal began his career as a video jockey and earned his break through the popular serial Baakiyalakshmi in which he played Ezhilan. He also participated in Cooku With Comali and showcased his humour as well as cooking skills. As a host, he has worked in popular shows like Kalakkal Champions and Athu Ithu Yethu.

Anshida

Kerala-born Anshida is known for her role in the TV show Chellamma. She also shares a close bond with actor and Bigg Boss contestant Arnav. Speaking on the show, Anshida said that negativity is celebrated and it easily engulfs a person and added that she craves love and affection.

Arnav

Arnav is also a popular TV actor who is known for playing the role Arya in Sakthi and Yugendran in Keladi Kanmani. He and Anshida share a close bond and often share pictures of each other. Arnav revealed the pivotal moment in his life that dismantled his support network. This setback prompted deep self-reflection and allowed him to reconnect with the cheerful person he once was. It is this quest to rediscover his joy that has led him to Bigg Boss.

Muthukumaran

Muthukumaran is known for running the YouTube channel, Naan MuthuKumaran. He is known for interviewing celebrities and sharing opinions on pop culture. He is well known for his acting, debate and speaking skills and has proved himself as a talented TV presenter.

VJ Jacqueline

The last and final contestant who joined the house was VJ Jacqueline. Well known for her stint as a host in several reality shows Athu Ithu Ethu and Kalakka Povathu Yaaru. After starring in a key supporting role in Nayanthara's Kolamaavu Kokila and being on TV for several years, Jacqueline took a break before entering Bigg Boss Tamil 8. She has also acted in TV serials such as Kanaa Kaanum Kaalangal and Andal Azhagar.
