What to watch in theatres this week: Kanguva, The Sabarmati Report, Bhairathi Ranagal, Gladiator II and more

Kanguva (Tamil): November 14

The much-anticipated period fantasy action film starring Suriya, Bobby Deol and Disha Patani in lead roles, tells a raw and an emotional tale of a tribal warrior's fierce struggle to save his people a millennium ago which is mysteriously linked to a shadow cop's perilous quest in the present. The film is directed by Siva, with music by Devi Sri Prasad.

The Sabarmati Report (Hindi): November 15

The Vikrant Massey-starrer revolves around the death of 59 karsevaks (RSS workers) in a fire on the Sabarmati Express at the Godhra railway station in Gujarat on the morning of February 27, 2002. Directed by Dheeraj Sarna, the film also stars Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra in pivotal roles.

Matka (Telugu): November 14

Directed by Karuna Kumar, Matka, starring Varun Varun Tej, Meenakshi Chaudhary, and Nora Fatehi in lead roles, tells the story of Vasu, an underprivileged man who works his way up in the world of crime, eventually becoming a feared Matka overlord. The story takes place between 1958 and 1982 in Visakhapatnam and is based on real life incidents.

Bhairathi Ranagal (Kannada): November 15

A first for Kannada cinema, Bhairathi Ranagal, directed by Narthan, is a prequel to Mufti, Shivarajkumar's 2017 film. The film, which also stars Rahul Bose, Rukmini Vasanth, Devaraj, and Chaya Singh, dwelves into the past of gangster Bhairathi, who was arrested by the undercover cop, Gana.

Anand Sreebala (Malayalam): November 15

Directed by Vishnu Vinay in his directorial debut, Anand Sreebala is a mystery thriller which stars Arjun Ashokan and Aparna Das in their titular role. The film is based on true events and hints at an unsolved case about a missing woman which is reopened by Anand Sreebala.

Gladiator II (English): November 15

24 years after its glorious release, Gladiator II, directed by Ridley Scott, is set to revolve around Paul Mescal who portrays Lucius, the son of Maximus and Lucilla, who becomes a gladiator after his home is invaded by the Roman army led by General Marcus Acacius. The film also stars Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, Lior Raz and Denzel Washington

Small Things Like These (English): November 15

Starring Cillian Murphy, Eileen Walsh, Michelle Fairley, and Emily Watson in lead roles, Small Things like These, a historical drama film is set to focus on the infamous Magdalene Laundries in Ireland. The film is directed by Tim Mielants and adapted by Enda Walsh from the 2021 novel by Claire Keegan.
