Three Kings (1999)

In this American black-comedy film written and directed by David O Russell, George Clooney plays Archie Gates, a US Army Special Forces soldier who is tired of the military bureaucracy and is disappointed with the Gulf War. Driven by greed, he decides to lead a secret mission to hunt for stolen Kuwaiti gold. As the story unfolds, he faces a moral dilemma and starts helping the Iraqi civilians affected by the war.

Michael Clayton (2007)

In this American legal thriller, Clooney plays the title character, Michael Clayton, a fixer for a prestigious law firm. Put in another way, he cleans up the messes and handles sensitive situations for his employer. He starts to question his job and faces a moral dilemma when one of the firm's top lawyers goes off the rails and gets caught up in a dangerous conspiracy involving corruption. 

O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)

This satirical comedy-drama is an adaptation of Homer's epic Greek poem The Odyssey. The film has Clooney playing Ulysses Everett McGill, one of the three convicts who escaped jail. Ulysses leads the other two in search of a hidden treasure. In this journey, the trio come across challenges, hurdles and new characters as well as learn the magic of music.

Good Night, and Good Luck (2005)

Clooney plays Fred Friendly, a producer at CBS, in this historical drama film. He supports news anchor Edward R Murrow in his conflict against US Senator Joseph McCarthy and his anti-communist actions. Friendly stands for integrity and freedom of speech even if under political pressure.

Hail, Caesar! (2016)

In this period black comedy-mystery film, Clooney plays Baird Whitlock, a charismatic but dim-witted star. He gets abducted by a group of communist writers during his shoot for a Roman epic. Numerous incidents start to take place due to his abduction, which leads to a comedic investigation.

The Perfect Storm (2000)

The Perfect Storm is a 2000 American disaster drama film. Clooney portrays Captain Billy Tyne, who leads the Andrea Gail crew in a fishing expedition. Tyne's leadership and determination are put to the test when they face a dangerous storm and are pushed to fight for survival.

The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009)

Clooney plays Lyn Cassady, a former soldier, in this satirical black comedy war film. He claims to be part of a secret army unit that explores psychic powers. He goes through a crazy adventure with a journalist while trying to unveil secrets behind the secret unit.

The Monuments Men (2014)

In this 2014 war film, Clooney plays Frank Stokes, an erstwhile art historian turned soldier. He leads a team to retrieve art that was stolen by the Nazis during World War II. He is all about conserving and preserving cultural heritage.

The Good Germans (2006)

In this 2006 American neo-noir crime film, George Clooney plays Jake Geismer, an American journalist in post-World War Berlin. While reconnecting with his former lover amidst reconstruction, he unwillingly becomes a part of a murder mystery. The film unfolds with him seeking truth and redemption in this scattered city.

Solaris (2002)

Clooney plays Chris Kelvin in Solaris, a psychologist sent to a space station orbiting a mysterious planet. He is sent there to investigate and learn more about the strange occurrences happening there. Haunted by his past being manifested, he goes through pain, grief, guilt and human consciousness in this 2002 American science fiction drama.
