Villain (2002)

This intense thriller has Ajith playing duel roles, Shiva and Vishnu. Vishnu is intellectually disabled and stays at a home run by a social worker. Shiva is a bus conductor who also poses as Vishnu to play Robin Hood and steal from the rich. In 2003 The film was remade in Telugu with the same title starring Rajasekhar.

Kadhal Kottai (1996)

An unfortunate incident which turned out to be the reason for an epic love. Kamali, a graduate, gets her purse stolen. Surya, an orphaned and carefree man, finds the purse and sends it back to her. A love blooms through the letters. The film was remade into Yaare Neenu Cheluve in Kannada, Hothat Brishti in Bengali, and Sirf Tum in Hindi. 

Vaalee (1999)

Ajith plays twins in this romantic thriller, Shiva and Deva. Deva is deaf and mute. Shiva adores and trusts his brother. Both the brothers end up falling for the same girl, Priya. What lengths would Deva go to attain her? Vaalee was remade in Kannada with the same title. 

Vedalam (2015)

Ganesh, a taxi driver, would do anything to protect his sister Thamizh, a college student. But their story goes way back and there is a lot of rage and revenge embedded into the protectiveness. Bhola Shankar, starring Chiranjeevi, is a Telugu remake of this film.

Dheena (2001)

Dheena, A gangster, falls in love with Chitra. Things get messy when they learn that Chitra's brother and Dheena's sister are in love. A huge misunderstanding causes the family to tear apart. Dhumm in Kannada and Deva in Bengali are remakes of the film. 

Varalaru (2006)

Ajith exceeded himself by playing three roles in the same film, Shivashankar a millionaire father and his twin sons, Jeeva and Vishnu. The movie was remade in three languages - Godfather in Kannada, Nat Khat Mhar Tae Tite Pwal in Burmese and Tu Mo Dehara Chhai in Odia.

Amarkalam (1999)

The film follows the enemies-turned-lovers trope and how true love wins no matter what. Ajith plays Vasu, a ruthless hooligan who falls in love with Mohana when he is not supposed to. Saran's Amarkalam was remade to Leela Mahal Center in Telugu and Asura in Kannada.

Veeram (2014)

Vinayagam has always sacrificed and worked hard to protect and provide for his four brothers. He is allergic to love. That changes when a girl with the same name as his high school crush moves next door. This 2014 blockbuster was remade into Katamarayudu in Telugu, Odeya in Kannada, and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan in Hindi.

Aasai (1995)

In this film, Jeeva and Yamuna, played by Ajith and Suvalakshmi overcome all kinds of struggles to be together. This romantic thriller had a Hindi remake, Pyaar Zindagi Hai.

Nee Varuvai Ena (1999)

Bound by tragedy and fate, their hearts entwined in unspoken understanding. The movie was remade into Ninne Premistha in Telugu,  Ninne Preethisuve in Kannada and Pranayamanithooval in Malayalam.
