Seven years after the second instalment of the franchise, Rowan Atkinson will be back as Johnny English in the third film of the series. Titled Johnny English Strikes Again, the film backed by Universal Pictures International India will be directed by David Kerr. Along with Rowan Atkinson, Emma Thompson, Olga Kurylenko, and the film will have Ben Miller reprising the role of Bough, Johnny English’s sidekick.

Speaking about the upcoming film, Atkinson says, “If you think you can have another go at something, you tend to think, ‘Why not have another go?’ as long as you feel mentally and physically capable of doing the job.”

The actor also expressed his excitement at the return of Ben Miller. “There are very few people I feel more at ease with as a comedy partnership. Tony Robinson, who plays Baldrick in Blackadder, was definitely one. I’ve got a very similar relationship with Ben. I think we just play off each other extremely well.”

This film begins when a cyberattack reveals the identity of all active undercover agents in Britain, leaving Johnny English as the secret service’s last hope. Called out of retirement, he dives head first into action with the mission to find the mastermind hacker. As a man with few skills and analogue methods, Johnny English must overcome the challenges of modern technology to make this mission a success.

Johnny English Strikes Again is written by William Davies, and produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Chris Clark. The film hits theatres across India on September 28.
