Emilia Clarke excited for her role in Solo: A Star Wars Story

Emilia Clarke says it is exciting to play a strong female character in Solo: A Star Wars Story. The actor, who is famous for essaying Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, will be seen as Qi'ra in the film.

"As someone who has donned characters that exist already, which can be really daunting and scary, it's been really fun to slip into a new character," says Emilia Clarke. "I did a lot of research and geeked up on a lot of stuff because I wanted to get the role right."

About the Star Wars franchise, she says, "Seeing The Force Awakens on theatre was an incredible experience. It's such an incredible piece of work. Lucas film always make sure that their films look really great onscreen. Star Wars is the most loved story of the century. I've grown up seeing the films getting a whole new makeover. Acting in the franchise's film is an opportunity that is too good to miss."

Solo: A Star Wars Story shows how Han Solo met his future copilot Chewbacca before the events in the original 1977 Star Wars. The film is the second anthology film after 2016's Rogue One. The project is directed by Ron Howard.

It also stars Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Paul Bettany. The film will be released in India on May 25.
